I was reading through Yahoo's top stories this morning and came across this post. It's about a High School English Teacher from Feasterville, PA named Natalie Munroe. She got suspended for posting comments and feelings about her students on her personal blog. Here are a few things she said.. "My students are out of control," and "They are rude, disengaged, lazy whiners. They curse, discuss drugs, talk back, argue for grades, complain about everything, fancy themselves entitled to whatever they desire, and are just generally annoying."
I quite honestly think this is very funny. But for writing the things that she did, she was suspended! I mean for real!? its just RIDICULOUS.
Why would they suspend someone for writing things on there personal blog?! She wasn't doing anything wrong She had all the right to speak how she felt, I mean common The First Amendment is FREEDOM OF SPEECH! She felt a certain way about her students she needed to vent about it and she thought none of her students would even see it. I understand how that can be a little naive, because you can practically find the end of the world on this thing. But she still had the right!
So for the whole suspending thing I totally disagree with that because She never once said anyone of her students names nor was she specific with anything other than her feelings. And the worse part about it is that it just shows the students that what they are doing is OK. It can even result to one of the teacher getting suspended or even fired!
What i think they should have done was talk to Ms. Munroe and tell her that it would be best to just write her feeling in her journal where only she can see it :) Not freakin suspend her. Then they should actually take her thoughts into consideration and really make a change. Because She is right in a lot of ways I mean this generation is a lot slower then the past. I think it might have a lot to do with the parents, and not being strict with there children. They want to be more of a friend then a parent. That then makes it easy for a kid to rebel or not go by order, because they were never taught better.
This kind of crap makes me really wish i was born in the early 1900s! i just had to get it off my chest!
